One of the central tenets to a team-based approach to working with foster youth is to assess the need for additional services to build a stronger support team for the youth and family. This training provides information about one important service in the community: Therapeutic Behavioral Services (TBS). By providing intensive home-based and/or school-based behavioral support to youth and caregivers, TBS can be an important complement to less frequent/intensive services that the youth is receiving. TBS is short-term and aims to decrease behaviors that are impairing a youth’s functioning and putting them at risk for being removed from their foster placement, hurting themselves and/or others and severely compromising their relationships with others and their ability to thrive and develop to their utmost potential.
