For many service providers, child welfare workers, and caregivers, determining suicide risk can be an anxiety-provoking event. Many often feel unequipped to provide an adequate risk assessment/screening when youth are suicidal. However, it’s not uncommon for youth to experience suicidal ideation and behaviors. This 2-hour workshop provides strategies and tools that can be used immediately to provide a adequate risk assessment and help create a safer environment for youth. The workshop uses a variety of teaching methods including but not limited to movie clips, lecture, role-play, discussion and case study. This workshop will focus explicitly on suicidality of youth.
