Participants will learn the importance of and gain practical skills for establishing and maintaining safe spaces for emotional sharing for African-American youth directly impacted by systems. We will utilize mindfulness to inventory blind spots and maintain Awareness of privilege, while learning Conscious Relationship building techniques, and Cross-Cultural Coaching skills. How do we let go of what we think about our clients’ experience, and approach everything as a mystery? Earl Simms and Doug Woodson will utilize their personal experiences as systems-impacted African-American Boys, and later mentors for the same population, to help the participants gain empathy and understanding for the internal oppression caused by systems, as well as teach practical skills and strategies to promote healing and resilience among African-American young men and boys.
