Through lecture, hand outs and discussion, Presenter will present an overview of common disabilities practitioners are likely to encounter within the populations they serve. In addition, presentation will contain overview of teaching practices relevant to practitioners who work with children who are on the spectrum and their families. Parts II and III of this series will give more in-depth overviews of teaching practices, assessments and interventions with this population.

Objectives:
  1. Identify a variety of disabilities among their current client caseload.
  2. Given a vignette, participants will peer-discuss a teaching practice that might be useful for the subject of the vignette.
  3. Participants will discuss the importance of family collaboration in the teaching practices and management of behavioral challenges.
