Working with system involved youth usually means working with people who experienced developmental trauma early in life. Clients with history of developmental trauma may not respond to traditional interventions. They tend to have regulation issues as well as different needs based on timing and context of trauma happened to them and these issues and needs get in the way of effective treatment. Understanding effects of developmental trauma on brain structures level can inform treatment. In this training, participants will gain a basic understanding of effects of early trauma on brain development and its ongoing effects on functioning. In addition to didactic training and handouts, participants will watch videos and will engage in conversations around how this information has a potential to inform treatment through tailoring interventions and the treatment plan in general.
