Foster Care Training

This training teaches concrete skills and tools around de-escalating conflict. As conflict is a common experience and occurrence when working with adopted or foster youth and their families, all of the content included will be valuable and applicable.Designed to increase staff capacity to address and de-escalate conflict, the goal of this training is to teach concrete skills toward building safe and healthy communities for program participants and staff. We will focus review the psychobiology of emotions and crisis, focusing on self-control and self-care. We will also revisit basic conflict prevention concepts including the role of professionalism, boundaries, communication, and trust. Caregivers learn and practice the Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Model, designed to help provide for the best possible care and welfare of youth. Foster caregivers/RFAs receive credit hours and a stipend for attendance.
