In the helping profession, not only do we work with individuals, families, and communities with diverse backgrounds, but we also interact with and work in diverse interdisciplinary teams as we support our clients. This training is designed to support providers with building on their current skills so that they can effectively engage and support diverse groups of people. In order to build on those skills, it is important to build on our awareness and understanding of cultural humility, which involves being open to the other. As we strengthen our ability to be open to the other, we will be open to shaping and adapting our support, interactions, and service delivery to be culturally responsive rather than taking a “one size fits all” way of delivering services.
