Learn why the creative process helps people to recover from trauma, and how to offer visual art activities to support this healing. We will focus on making art with children and youth who are involved in foster care. Case examples are based on therapeutic relationships with a variety of ages and in diverse settings, including community-based work. Information will be applicable with modification to relationships that include mentoring, foster parenting, and family connections. This training will be experiential and interactive, and will include making art, discussion, case examples, and lecture based on clinical experience, community practices, and current research in neurobiology, trauma, and art therapy.
