Trauma-informed care seeks to avoid re-traumatization and provide space for permanency, healing and recovery for all youth and families involved with systems of care. While it is absolutely essential for the providers working in and partnering with systems of care to be trauma-informed, it is also quite necessary for the caregivers to be brought into the loop for training and coaching in trauma-related issues. Therefore it is critically important to recognize the primary role of all caregivers in a child’s caregiving system as facilitators and advocates for healing and trauma recovery and to prepare them for the journey by building their capacity for providing trauma informed caregiving. Training participants will learn the elements of trauma-informed caregiving and how to partner in a way that supports building the capacity of caregivers.
