Foster Care Training

There are various barriers to placement for teen foster youth entering the system often due to shortage of available homes willing to accept teenage youth as long term placements. These barriers are often due to misunderstandings of what accepting a teenager into your home will look like.

This training will highlight why teens are more at risk in general whilst in the system. Participants will be encouraged to have an open mind to a wider range of age groups for possible placements within their resource home.

Participants who come to this training will have an increased capacity to understand and empathize with what teens may have experienced in their lives and will better understand how that manifests itself while in care. Participants will leave the training with tools to work with teenagers and help them succeed in their final years in care; helping them along the path to adulthood.
