It is widely assumed that parent/caregiver involvement in the care of children and youth is crucial. Service providers dedicated to serving youth understand that the involvement of families is related to successful outcomes. There is even evidence suggesting that family involvement may be a more critical factor in the effectiveness of services for children and youth than the particular type of intervention provided. The importance of family/caregiver involvement regardless of the setting is evident, Yet service providers often find it challenging to engage key family members. This second-part of a two-part training series provides a more in depth look at how attachment and structural approaches can be used to conceptualize and understand family involvement.
