This 2 part training series will provide an introduction to the theory and treatment components of Dialectical Behavior Therapy in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Participants will be given an overview of the basic approach and guidelines for identifying clients who will benefit most from the DBT treatment. After the course introduction participants will be able to identify the basics of conceptualizing psychological functioning and treatment in a DBT framework, as well as how the approach can be modified to address specific populations, including older adults, adolescents, and individuals with eating disorders.
Objectives:
- Participants will gain a understanding of the theory underlying Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
- Participants will increase their skills of incorporating DBT approaches in their work with foster youth who can benefit most from the treatment.
- Participants will explore and learn the core principles and treatment strategies of DBT.
