Adverse experiences in childhood, including disruption in home placement and family relationships, can contribute to depressive symptoms. Creative activity can be fun and pleasurable while increasing self-efficacy and hope. Providers can learn how to help participants get engaged in art and how to plan activities that respond to depression in children, youth and young adults. This training will combine experiential art making, movement, and awareness practices with didactic lecture and visual case examples. Information is based on research, neurobiology, and years of clinical experience.
