Course offers a developmental understanding of the tasks of parenting in the 21st century that includes an examination of temperament, brain development, and the developmental journey through embedded stages of emerging self-awareness. B. Presenter will define the role of the parent to educate the child regarding the moral code, values, and work of life in conjunction with coaching self-regulation of emotions and the energies of the “Will”. Course examines the importance of attachment as the conduit for children to begin to give up “self” centeredness and pursuit of pleasure without moral/social concerns so that they may align with the pro-social values of the family and the larger community.

Objectives
  1. Participants will have an understanding of the role of the parent to teach children the rules, morals, and values of life in conjunction with the parallel job of coaching self-regulation of emotions, and self-discipline and control of the energies of the “Will.”

  3. Participants will be able to identify the 4 parenting stances and how each stance, in conjunction with specific interventions, helps children learn rules, skills, and self-regulation.
