The “Word on the Street” commercial sexual exploitation prevention curriculum is designed to educate, equip, and empower youth, and provide them with tools and opportunities for discussion to prevent them from unknowingly becoming victims of commercial sexual exploitation. The curriculum provides an overview of CSEC which includes what it is, examples of CSEC, the CSEC business model, and the objectification and sexualization of women and girls in the entertainment industry. The curriculum also discusses risk factors for involvement in CSEC, the dangers of the Internet and social media, the differences between a relationship with a boyfriend/girlfriend and an exploiter, and healthy relationships. Additionally, the curriculum discusses the different types of exploiters and recruiters, their tactics, and their pickup lines. During each workshop, the group will review safety and resource tips to ensure that the youth know what resources are available for them and who they can reach out to for help. All of the workshops include group discussions, activities, and various forms of multimedia.
