The intensity of our work as clinicians and professionals working with system-involved youth requires our own healing and resilience. This is necessary for our effectiveness with clients, overall well-being, and long term sustainability in the work. This course supports participants in creating and implementing their own somatic healing and resilience practices, and deepens understanding of the various ways in which trauma, including vicarious trauma, impacts us. We will spend the day learning somatic skills for healing trauma (including systemic oppression), and building long-term resilience. This training is perfect for those that would like to learn new practical strategies to begin and/or deepen their own healing and resilience work.

Somatics orients from a place of understanding the deep connection between body, mind, and spirit. It acknowledges that our bodies are also deeply impacted by our experiences of trauma. Therefore somatic work is unique in that instead of solely focusing on the mind, it directly engages, and includes the body as an essential part of healing and resilience.
