This course is for White professionals working with system involved youth and families addressing Racism. Racism is a pervasive structure replicated within the White community as a direct result of institutional racist structures within society. The main points of the training are:
  • Recognize somatic response to conversations about racism,
  • Define racism and antiracism, Identify racist ideas and belief held,
  • Identify three antiracist ways to shift the support during challenging conversations with youth and families.
The trainer will facilitate conversation, host break out reflections and conversation to illicit learning of impact of racism and racist ideology within the self, community, economics, school and participants will discuss impact upon system involved client population of youth and families.
