Developmental trauma differs from adult trauma in four ways:
  1. It is likely to be repetitive as it most likely received by the care taker;
  2. Depending on the age of development when the person is traumatized, they will not likely have developed inner resources or a nervous system to process the trauma;
  3. Particularly in neglect or in being raised by unregulated caretakers, the child never learns how to self-regulate emotions. This is mostly taught by non-verbal co-regulation when the caretaker holds, rocking, and breathes with the child;
  4. Attachment patterns are disrupted when it is not safe to be with care taker or there is no care taker.
In this course participants will learn about the specific causes and outcomes of developmental trauma. They will learn about co-regulating through experiential exercises and will also learn energy medicine and energy psychology interventions including Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). This class is useful for those who already know different energy medicine and energy psychology techniques and those who are new to these interventions. It is particularly who provide direct therapeutic services to individual clients. Participants will engage in experiential exercises and learn techniques to use with clients who have experienced both shock and developmental trauma. To benefit and use this material, participants should plan to be on time and stay the whole time.
