Attendees are encouraged to attend all sessions, but it is not required. Each session is considered a stand-alone session. Beam shows us the intricacies of growing up in the system- the back and forth with agencies, the rootless shuffling between homes, the emotionally charged tug between foster and birth parents, the terrifying push out of foster care and into adulthood. Humanizing and challenging a broken system, To the End of June offers a tribute to resiliency and hope for real change. Training will include selected reading form the book titled To The End of June by Cris Beam. Facilitated by Carole Loudd, MA you will be led in a group discussion at each session relating the reading to your experience fostering. Objectives Discuss the question, “ who are the children in foster care, and what do we, as a country, owe them?” What does it mean to be a foster parent What are the skills that are needed to be a foster parent What are the effects of “the system” on children, bio- and foster families
