Online Training

Please note that all are welcome to this training. This 4-hour session will use the framework of Motivational Interviewing to help providers disassemble racist beliefs, held by those with whom our clients need to interact, and support the creation of community-building narratives. Attendees will explore the often-times counterproductive responses to white guilt, such as becoming a cultural officer or “calling-out” and identify ways to create reflection, transformation and meaningful discourse, or “calling-in”. Attendees will practice the use of open-ended questions, affirmations, reflections and summaries in the context of addressing racist ideology. The training will include small group breakout and larger group processing. Space will be given to discuss increasing comfortability around “calling-in”.
