Growing up within the multitude of environmental challenges facing marginalized communities, many youth experience tremendous amounts of trauma over the course of their upbringing. Many of these youth are often resistant to and uninspired by conventional methods of talk therapy. The Rhythmic Mind Hip Hop Therapy Discussion Groups utilize an innovative, culturally responsive and strength-based approach to bridge this gap and provide effective, trauma-informed services to this population. The topics of this training will include: Clinical Underpinnings of Rhythmic Mind’s Hip Hop Therapy Model, Trauma and its Impact on the Brain and Central Nervous System, Rhythm and the Regulation of Trauma, Overview of the 3 Core Components Rhythmic Mind’s Hip Hop Therapy Model, In-Depth Exploration and Instruction on the Implementation of Rhythmic Mind’s Hip Hop Therapy Discussion Group Curriculum.

The intended age-group for this training is high school and TAY youth (14-24). However, the curriculum can be easily adapted for middle school aged youth and 4th/5th graders (9-13).

These discussion groups are not intended for youth with significant emotional disturbance/severe emotional disturbance (SED), such as CE classrooms/programs.
