The training is designed to equip providers with the knowledge and skills to more effectively work with system involved youth being commercially sexually exploited. The training will begin with a discussion on self-care and vicarious trauma. Next, the training will discuss relevant legislation, mandated reporting, and confidentiality. The training will then differentiate the roles of a case manager, mentor, and advocate to ensure participants understand their role. Next, the training will apply the Stages of Change Model to advocacy with survivors of commercial sexual exploitation. The training will then discuss the role of advocates in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings. Lastly, the training will discuss issues specific to advocates such as healthy boundaries, developing effective advocacy plans, safety planning, etc.
