This training is an opportunity to create and/or deepen Joy Practices for BIPOC practitioners. Experiences of racial oppression in the United States has lead many people of color to careers of service and advocacy, often driven by the desire to make things better for the generations to come. The weight of surviving oppressive systems, while trying to uplift young people suffering under the same system is, at best, overwhelming. This workshop will explore how centering joy is an act of resistance that is both nourishing and sustainable. It is an experiential and interactive workshop where participants can share and develop practices that center joy, connection, and belonging. Joy is an essential component of well being that when practiced consistently can prevent practitioner burnout
