Supervision provides great satisfaction and many challenges. In this course we will explore how to address the challenges and gain satisfaction in the work. This class meets the 6 hour (every two year) requirement for supervising AMFT and PCCI and the 15 hour ( one time) requirement for supervising ASWs. Topic will include: Boards of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) supervision requirements; developmental stages of supervisees and supervisors; assessment of supervisees skill level and learning style; planning how to make an individualized supervision plan; models and techniques of supervision; supervision versus psychotherapy; supervision record keeping; legal and ethical issues; how to address supervisee’s anxiety; cross-cultural and multicultural issues in supervision; group supervision; termination; supervising trauma work and addressing vicarious traumatization in supervision; identifying and addressing difficult problems; teaching supervisees how to apply theory to practice; teaching supervisees to engage parents and caregivers in treatment; supporting supervisees paperwork.
