In the Child-Teacher Relationship Training (CTRT) model teachers are taught basic Child Centered Play skills and relationship building skills in order to help teachers meet the various emotional and behavioral needs of children ages pre-k through early elementary school. CTRT is adapted from Landreth and Bratton’s (2019) Child Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT) model. The purpose of CTRT is to provide opportunities for teachers to gain a better understanding of children’s feelings, experiences, and needs; increase teachers’ awareness of ways to respond that build children’s confidence and self-esteem; and facilitate the development of more positive emotional relationships with children. The CTRT model is also intended as a useful intervention for children experiencing mental health difficulties in early childhood. This training will provide participants with foundational concepts for structuring and conducting CTRT.
