This training is offered for those who aren’t sure how to begin to offer visual art activities to others as well as for those who want to be more effective when integrating creative process into therapy or other supportive relationship with children, youth and families who have experienced trauma.

This training combines mindfulness practices, art making, movement, breathing, lecture, case examples & interactive conversation including practical considerations for preparation, planning and implementation when beginning to invite others to make art to support healing. Information is grounded in clinical experience as well as research in neurobiology, trauma, and expressive arts.

Class Objectives:
  • Practice one art activity, as well as breathing and movement, to support regulation.
  • Experience one art activity exploring the expressive range of media, marks & movement.
  • Identify 5 practical and clinical considerations when preparing to offer art as a therapeutic activity
  • See and hear ten case examples of easy, accessible art activities to use with children and youth.
  • Learn 6 strategies to help others get started making art, even when they believe they are not able.
