Foster Care Training

Learning about the cultural identities as well as experiences of discrimination and oppression become crucial with system-involved youth and their families. Without this understanding, it will be a challenge to meet them where they are at and understand the experiences they’ve had and are having. In this training, we will talk about the ways in which culture influences us and ways to increase identification of cultural factors, including discrimination, during initial engagement and information collection processes. Participants will also be able to learn how to complete a culturalgram with system involved youth and their families to gain a better understanding of their cultural influences.
