This will be an interactive session, focused on understanding key theory and pervasive elements of systemic oppression and utilizing social justice theater (Theater of the Oppressed-Boal), drama therapy, and other creative modalities to better ally, empathize with, and serve our communities. These creative modalities will be utilized as tools for change, inviting participants to analyze, experiment, and explore different strategies for directly addressing issues of oppression and bias that occur at their schools, organizations, and lives. We will also discuss how this embodied and creative practice can be used with and in our school and work communities for positive and sustainable change.
