Foster Care Training

This training will educate providers about the concept of “coming out” for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, & queer (LGBTQ) communities, with a focus on youth identity development. Participants will situate “coming out” sociohistorically, examining the assumption that a young person will or must share their sexual orientation and/or gender identity from an intersectional lens. Participants will compare & contrast two models of sexuality development and three models of gender identity development, and Identify three best practices for how to respond when a youth expresses their authentic sexual orientation and/or gender identity.
