The DSM-5 (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th edition) has many significant differences from previous editions, including new diagnoses, changes to previous diagnoses, and a new classification system. The purpose of the training is toĀ strengthenĀ intake and assessment and engagement skills of team of providers in a trauma informed environment. In this course, participants will learn which diagnoses are covered by Medi-Cal specialty mental health services, the codes and diagnostic criteria for the covered diagnoses as well as how the DSM-5 is organized. This new information will be applied to case vignettes with a focus on Children in dependency and relevant diagnosis.
