The understanding of infants and young children in care require a developmental approach to the assessment, diagnosis and formulation process. This training will explore the assessment of young children, the diagnostic process, and the use of a diagnostic system to summarize the information gathered through interview and observation of the child and their significant caregivers.

Objectives:
  1. When assessing children under the age of 6 years, participants will be able to apply the DC: 0-5 to summarize the history of the young child in care and their observations.
  2. When assessing with children under the age of 6 years, participants will be able to prepare a treatment plan based on the use of the diagnostic summary.
  3. When assessing children under the age of 6 years, participants will be able to integrate cultural considerations in the diagnostic process.
