Foster Care Training

In this course, participants will confront and discover aspects of their daily language that unintentionally upholds gender erasure. We will review aspects of gender identity and isolate it from sexual orientation or romantic attraction in order to focus on gender justice and the ways practitioners and clinicians can support their gender expansive colleagues, clients, and in their personal lives. Some of the topics we will spend time with in discussion and practice are: pronouns, gender identity ‘labels’, honorifics, and inclusive language. This will be a highly participatory session with breakout rooms for small group discussion, pair shares, and some role-play scenario work.
