The purpose of the training is to address Cultural Accountability with providers training to work with children who are in foster care, or are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Training will focus on considering cultural responsiveness and its intersections with trauma. Through discussing several readings and using the ADDRESSING framework participants will be engaged in understanding trauma across developmental lifespan. The aim of this training is to increase cultural responsiveness by increasing provider’s reflective capacities and introspection thereby developing the provider’s ability to understand the cultural experiences of children in foster care and acquire the skills necessary to work with birth parents and caregivers of children in out of home placement. The training occurs in a seminar/workshop and is part of an ongoing series.
