This training will explore the nuances of providing family therapy to Latinx families from the perspective of a Xicana clinician. The training will use experiential and group work to explore themes of cultural responsiveness, attunement, respecto, and traditional healing. This training will rely on vignettes and case examples of family therapy done in Spanish, specifically with youth and adults. Participants will be invited to share their own experiences of working with this population and examine how it is different and unique. Participants can expect an opportunity to explore their cultural biases, learn about the Latinx diaspora, and be introduced to the concepts of Curanderismo and how it applies to the work of family therapy.
