After the Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training, caregivers will:
  • Have knowledge and awareness of the connection between trauma and the need for crisis prevention and intervention.
  • Have knowledge of how your own trauma and past experiences, as a caregiver, influence your relationship with your child and the role your past may play in a crisis situation.
  • Be aware of the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication and the impact that it has on relationships.
  • Know that having a positive connection and relationship with the child is vital, critical, and necessary.
  • Have a development of skills to prevent crisis from occurring and skills for when intervention is necessary.
  • Have gained the skills to help deescalate the child when crisis management/intervention is necessary and learn how to keep the child, yourself, and others safe.
  • Learn how to support the child after the crisis and repair the relationship if needed.
