Relationally based and neurobiologically-grounded, the Collaborative Problem Solving model out of Massachusetts General Hospital Department of Child Psychiatry views challenging behavior as a learning disability or delayed development of some very crucial neurocognitive (thinking) skills necessary to handle the demands of everyday life.

Through a more empathetic and accurate understanding of what is getting in a child’s (or adult’s) way, we (caregivers, clinicians, etc.) are better able to intervene to support children (and adults) through a collaborative process of teaching skills and solving problems. In this training, participants will build their skills in applying the model through a combination of didactic instruction, role-plays, video and audio examples, case presentations, and breakout groups.
