In response to recent community events and continued community injustices, this course aims to teach tools that support courageous dialogue and action for social change in child welfare. As Part I of a larger discussion around Cultural Humility, this course will explore the history and basic principles of Cultural Humility, teach basic agreements for engaging in culturally humble conversations, and put these tools into action through group dialogue that can be applied to our work with system-involved youth and families. After becoming familiar with basic principles and agreements, participants will engage in discussion to process current community events and to identify action steps that support one another personally and professionally and further efforts toward social justice as child welfare professionals.
