This engaging and immersive training will equip participants with trauma-responsive and culturally responsive knowledge and skills for working with system-involved youth. Through this experiential training, participants will explore their own experiences with these subjects, learn ways to build resilience, and gain trauma-informed strategies for working with system-involved youth to improve outcomes. In this training, we will discuss the concepts of intersectionality as a basis for a trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches when working with system-involved youth and their families. Participants will gain a trauma-informed and culturally responsive understanding of how traumatic system involvement impacts system-involved youth. Through lecture and breakout group discussions participants will identify the difference between compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma and create action plans to counteract the effect of these experiences, to improve the effectiveness of support for system involved youth and families.
