White staff aiming to serve as allies to systems-involved youth, families, co-workers and communities of color require a high level of awareness to act with cultural responsiveness and humility. Integrating cultural knowledge, techniques and activities into one’s practice and agency programming, without it being insensitive or an appropriation, is an ability that needs on-going attention. Join us at this engaging workshop where we will explore what it means to be a white ally within our work, and an accomplice to people of color in the community. Whether you identify as white yourself, work with white colleagues or simply wish to add to this valuable dialogue, all interested youth work staff or volunteers are encouraged to attend.
