In this 3 day series students learn about attachment theories and the means to develop attachments with clients with maladaptive attachment patterns. Students learn how disruptive attachment and neglect lead to a child who is unable to regulate him or herself, and students practice methos of achieving co-regulation with dysregulated clients. On day two, students are walked through the stress cycle and work on ways to utilize stress in a helpful and healthy way as well as ways to work with the not-so-helpful types of stress. On the third morning, students now move into trauma and the results of early childhood abuse and neglect including the effects on brain development, cognition, attachment, and behavior.
