Teens and young adults who are or have been living in foster care experience typical developmental challenges of exploring identity, expanding social relationships, exploring limits, and transitioning from childhood to adulthood. This time of transition is impacted by experiences of trauma, instability of home placement, and family dynamics. This training will provide examples and experiences of creative activities that can help teens develop a positive sense of self, gain confidence to realize goals, and make healthier, safer choices. We’ll identify strategies to support adolescents and young adults to move past apathy, despair and destructive behaviors into hope, caring, and positive action. This interactive training incorporates art activities, awareness practices, discussion, and visual case examples based on years of clinical experience, neurobiology & current research.
