Providers usually enter the field because they believe in supporting others through life’s challenges, which may lead to experiencing our work as rewarding and inspiring. However, the portion of the work that involves documentation, especially Medi-Cal related documentation, often feels extra challenging, frustrating, and stifling. Documentation often comes with requirements, specific expectations, and overall rigidity. Some providers feel the frustration from this at such a high level that they avoid completing the documentation, therefore, missing deadlines and losing their joy in the work. This constant challenge may lead to losing touch with ways in which the documentation can truly reflect our work. In service delivery, as providers, we are learning to gain a trauma informed lens and applying it to the services we provide as well as working towards increasing our cultural awareness and sensitivity in working multicultural communities.
