Recent studies indicate that professionals rarely receive any formal education, training or supervision on how to best engage, assess, support and treat members of the foster care/adoption triad – foster/adopted people, foster/adoptive parents and first/birth parents. This two-hour introductory course will provide professionals with tools and best practices to use when providing services to all members of the foster/adoption triad, across their lifespan. At each stage of child development, new understandings will become possible for both foster/adopted children and their parents. Participants will learn about some of the common presenting themes in therapy, as well as strategies and interventions that support parents in meeting the evolving needs of their foster/adopted child.
