In these trainings students develop a collectively understood approach to the treatment of dangerous, assaultive, and injurious behavior. Students learn to see the treatment of assaultive behavior in the context of maintaining a therapeutic milieu. Students examine their collective and individual preparation for the treatment of assaultive behavior. Students examine client triggers and responses, considering factors such as child development, trauma, and communication styles. Students develop criteria for evaluating levels of danger, and methods of maintaining self-control and achieving attunement. Students develop strategies for limiting injurious behavior and providing need based alternatives. Students practice responses that adhere to agency and Licensing protocols and respect clients’ dignity and personal rights.
