Many system-involved youth and transitional age youth struggle to make sense of their emotions and regulate them in an adaptive manner. Without this knowledge, it can hinder goals and aspirations youth have. This training will equip you with the knowledge and skills to effectively support youth in increasing their emotional regulation skills. Also, when youth struggle to regulate their emotions they can dwell on self-defeating thoughts. Mindfulness is a helpful skill for social service providers to practice to be present and engaged with clients as well as a great skill to teach youth to practice so they don’t get lost in their thoughts and emotions.
