This training will provide an introduction to and overview of the field of Infant-Parent Mental Health. It is designed for community service providers of all levels who serve children 0-5 and their families (e.g., peer advocates, early care workers, nurses, case managers, clinicians). In the morning, participants will be given an overview of core beliefs and practices, including the history of the field, common services, data on why the early years matter and a brief introduction to Reflective Practice. In the afternoon, the will focus will be on methods and interventions used by practitioners across multiple disciplines. Additionally, participants will be given tools on how to screen, refer and discuss Infant Mental Health Services to families and other providers with special emphasis given to abuse prevention and families involved with the foster care system.
