Working with Latino families? Speak fluent Spanish? This class will be perfect for you. Discussed will be general family beliefs regarding mental health and disabilities. What is acculturation and how do we best understand and help Latino families through their process? This class will explore Latino families you are working with and how to best work with them culturally competent.

Cultural sensitivity professional and personal boundaries will be reviewed. Participants will be reminded of the importance of their own triggers and how to best have intentional interaction vs. reactions. How do we best manage these and creating awareness for ourselves, as providers, to be truly effective in our roles. This class will be taught in Spanish.
