Many youth who have experienced trauma in their lives find themselves disconnected to the people, places and ideas that are important to them.  This training is based on work created by Ncazelo Ncube and David Denborough designed to help people re-connect to these cherished things in their lives in order to reduce the possibility of re-traumatizing them as they address the difficulties they face.  The group will view a DVD presentation of the Tree of Life and then have an opportunity to create a personal visual representation.  Participants will experience the power of sharing information about where we come from, who we learn from, what our hopes and dreams are and the skills that we hold.  Tree of Life work with groups of young people and adults helps to cross age differences without crossing professional boundaries.  This allows for a more trusting collaboration and a sense of being human together.  A facilitated discussion of the practice with youth will help participants determine how to use this in their work context.
