Children and adolescents living in foster care are a vulnerable and ethnically diverse population. As providers, we must be culturally sensitive and aware in our approaches with you. Better understand the differences between Cultural Competence, Cultural Awareness, and Cultural Sensitivity. Review importance of role modeling and good boundaries and how these impact our youth. Explore Self-disclosure and self-awareness. Create awareness of our triggers and how to best manage these, in order to be most effective in our roles, as providers and have a positive impact on our youth and families.
